There are two methods to accomplish this. Insert one plant symbol on a drawing. In the top menu just above the tool bar there are two small text boxes that say X and Y. These values determine where it will place a duplicated object. For example, if our page units are set to Feet, and your X and Y are both 5.0' the program will create a duplicate of this 5 feet to the top and right of the original. If you needed to create a row of plants you could just change the X value and leave the Y value at 0.0 so that your duplicates just go directly to the left or right of the original.
Also, if you duplicate an object and move it 10 feet to the right, then duplicate your first duplicate it will make another one that exact distance again. Give that a try!
