Mouse Jumping Off Page When Painting

Postby DrBrown » Fri May 14, 2010 1:12 pm

It has come to our attention that Corel has a slight issue when being used on large widescreen resolutions on Vista and Windows7. Most are not effected by this but a few have mentioned this problem. When you try to paint with a clone brush, eraser or painting type tool it will jump the mouse at a 45 degree angle up and to the left of where you click. The steps below will help correct this issue as it has to do with the DPI settings for Windows. If you have this issue follow these steps:

Step 1: Click Start > Control Panel.

Step 2: In the Control Panel click on Appearance and Personalization.

Step 3: On the next menu click on Personalization.

Step 4: On the Personalization screen, under the Tasks, click on Adjust font size (DPI). On Windows7, click on Display first, then Set custom text size (DPI).

Step 5: If using Vista, click the box for "Default scale" and click the Custom DPI button below. For Windows7, skip to step 6.

Step 6: Make sure the checkbox at the bottom for Use Windows XP style DPI scaling, then click OK. It will make you restart the computer for the new changes to take effect. GO ahead and restart immediately when prompted.

Retry the tools and make sure they are functioning properly. If you continue to have this issue please refer to tech support.

Dan, Thank you, it does seem to work. I have a 27inch Samsung Moniter. Will it change anything else in my other programs? appearance, fonts, etc..

Good news! Glad it worked out.

It should not have any affect on your PC performance. It only changes the resolution of fonts and how they appear on your desktop, or in a document writing program like MS Word etc.
