TOTW #61: Finding the Scrapbook in Corel X4

Postby DrBrown » Fri Jul 30, 2010 3:32 pm

PURPOSE: The Codel Designer12 platform had a Scrapbook option that could be used to drag photos and library items into the program. This feature was hidden in the Corel X4 platform. This tip will explain where to locate this menu.

Step 1: Open Earthscapes 1.0 from the Desktop. When it loads click the Corel tab at the top, then Photo-Paint.

Step 2: When the welcome screen loads close it. Then click File > New. At the next menu just click OK to create a blank document. This unlocks access to all the tools now.

Step 3: In the top menu, click Tools > Customization.

Step 4: In the Options window that appears expand the Customization list by clicking the +. Then click on "Commands".

Step 5: Next to where it says "File", click on the binoculars button. In the Find Text search box type in "scrapbook" and click Find Next.

Step 6: It should locate the link to Scrapbook at the bottom of the scroll list. Click on Scrapbook and drag it out into the background gray area in PhotoPaint.

Step 7: You should see the single button toolbar appear as shown here:

Step 8: Try to click on the top bar where you see the "N" and drag this up into the top row of the horizontal toolbar. See below:

Step 9: You can close the Find Text search box now, and click OK in the Options window. Now click on the new Scrapbook tool at the top, then click "Browse...".

The Scrapbook docker should now appear over in the right-side menu.

Step 10: If you wanted to access any of the folders on your PC you would just double-click on "Desktop". Then explore the folders on the computer where your library images reside. In the photo below it shows the folder location of the typical custom library from the Visual Impact Library.
